This year’s edition of QuEST Ingenium created a plethora of opportunities for budding engineers across the nation

  • National-level, annual innovation contest for engineering students
  • Received over 8,000 registrations from 905 colleges across  the country
  • Team RVCE from RV College of Engineering, Bangalore and Team SCET from Sahrdaya College of Engineering and Technology, Thrissur declared second and third winners

September 19, 2016, Bangalore: QuEST Global, a global engineering solutions provider, today, announced the winners of its annual student innovation contest – QuEST Ingenium 2016. Striving towards building engineering passion amongst the student community of India, this contest brings together the brightest engineering minds to compete with one another on this prestigious platform, also recognised by India’s leading industry body ‘NASSCOM’.

This year’s edition of the contest received more than 8,000 applications from 905 engineering institutes across the country. The final top 10 shortlisted teams were invited to present their projects to a panel of judges and eminent personalities from the industry at an event hosted in Bangalore. Mr. Anand Madanagopal, Founder and CEO, Cardiac Design Labs was the Chief Guest of the event today and Mr. John O’Leary, Vice President, Airbus Americas Engineering Inc. delivered a Keynote Address to the young engineers from across the country.

The team from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, The Engineering Maestros, were announced as the Grand Prize winners for their project on low cost bionic arm for amputees. The winning team are entitled to a cash prize and an all-expense paid trip to the Airbus facility in Wichita, Kansas USA. At Wichita, they will be hosted by the Airbus team, given an exclusive tour of the Airbus facility and introduced to the manufacturing processes and the core engineering side of the business.

Speaking at the gala event, Ajay Prabhu, Chief Operating Officer, QuEST Global, expressed, “To sustain growth and development in an increasingly competitive world, companies are moving up the value chain and tapping into the immense engineering talent of India to fuel their growth. With the government’s focus on initiatives such as Digital India and Make in India, there is a large scope and need for aspiring engineers to develop skillsets beyond a mere degree, but to solve real-world problems. Ingenium provides this broad platform to budding Indian engineers, and encourages them to innovate and showcase novel solutions to combat the critical issues facing our world today.”

Team – Shashank Rane, Kanchi Poddar, Kritika Sabharwal, along with their Guide, Prof. Shailesh Rokade

“Traffic management has always posed a challenge in Bangalore and it may continue to become more difficult with every passing day unless we start building some intelligence into the way we look at resolving these issues. This was the genesis of our idea. We want to further develop our prototype and make it a reality as it will help Bangalore manage traffic issues more efficiently. We are grateful to QuEST for providing us this amazing platform.”

Team Name – SCET from Sahradaya College of Engineering and Technology, Thrissur

Team – Reeba Roy Mannoor, Bijosha P, Prabha John, Ruksana Hamza and their Guide, Rosmy Davis

“The quantum of Plastic waste is ever increasing and it is posing a big threat to our environment. The main objective of our project, Plastic Sand is to solve the problem related to the plastic waste and to have a productive use of plastic as a construction material. Ingenium was a great platform us to showcase our work and we are thrilled with this acknowledgement.”
