Tom Brown is a truly global HR expert who has led transformation programs in both high growth and turnaround environments, in industrial, B2B service, consumer, mining and energy sectors. He has led global HR functions from Europe the USA, Australia and Africa. Acting as a partner of the CEO in each instance, he has positioned the HR function to play its role in maximizing business performance.
His earlier career was spent in a variety of human resources roles with Mobil Corporation, in Europe, Africa and the USA where he first became involved with major change programs. In 1996 Tom first came to Australia with BHP in Melbourne, first as head of Human Resources for BHP Petroleum and then as head of the Human Resources function for BHP as a whole. He was a member of the team responsible for the merger and integration of BHP Billiton. He returned to London in 2002 as Group Human Resources Director for Allied Domecq plc through to its acquisition by Pernod. He returned to Australia as Senior Vice President Human Resources for Brambles Industries Limited and was a member of the executive team which led the complete restructure of the company into its current composition.
Tom has returned to Australia after completing a 4 year assignment in London as Group HR director for the iconic Rolls-Royce company where he was instrumental in transforming the HR into a global function in support of the company’s drive to be global in its operations.
He holds a Master of Arts degree (French) from Aberdeen University.
