Black History Month is a time to celebrate the rich and complex history of black people in the United States and other parts of the world. It is a time to honor the many contributions and achievements of Black individuals and communities, and to reflect on the ongoing struggle for racial justice and equality. This month provides an opportunity to learn about and appreciate the diverse cultures, traditions, and experiences that thrive in the Black community as well as to acknowledge and confront many of the current.
One of our Quest Global employees, Monique Stallings, who’s also a human activist, expresses her views and thoughts about the Black History Month, and tells us about the activists who have inspired her in her journey.
Who are some of the activists that influence you and why?
The activists that influence me and are; James Baldwin, who eloquently broke down issues of race in America for all to relate. Maya Angelou, for her deep love of her community and insight that surpassed color. Mary Church Terrell, born a slave, was a Black suffragist and civil rights activist that fought for women’s right to vote. Beatris Stallings, who taught me to treat everyone the way you want to be treated.
What sparked your activism?
My activism started when I was promoted to Team Lead/Project Lead in 2014. I felt that Quest Global needed more active involvement in Black History Month than it already had. So a small group of us created a mural of historic black engineers in the office. We provided food and invited all to see the presentation and join in the celebration of the advancement of black people in the industry. This grew to cover the Harlem Renaissance, Tuskegee Airmen, the 150 Anniversary of the Black Vote, local education activist and AFRO Activist of the 21st century. We are celebrating our 9th Annual Black History Month this year, and I am excited for what’s to come.
My goal is to continue to pave the way to create and build an environment that fosters a hunger for learning as I continue to mentor and guide our future leaders. Working across teams and functions, our goal is to create a work environment where employees can thrive, learn and achieve their personal goals.
It has come to our attention that scammers have tried to mislead people by fictitiously claiming to be employees of Quest Global or posing as authorized recruitment partners. These entities are misguiding job-seekers by promising well-placed roles with our company and asking candidates to pay for a certification course with a promise of reimbursement once they have joined. Kindly note, Quest Global conducts a formal interview process in our search for extraordinary people. We would NEVER ask candidates to pay for certifications at any stage of the recruitment process.
