ABSTRACT

Developing complex systems like rail signaling involves not only understanding standard requirements but also considering stakeholder interests in manufacturing, design, and deployment. Rail signaling systems provide speed and movement instructions to drivers based on wayside and radio unit information. To ensure safe and reliable train operations, system boundaries and operational requirements must be well-defined, structured, and understood. Traditional systems engineering methods handle system requirements and design specifications but have limitations. There is a growing need to adopt modeling techniques to better understand command and control systems.
