Bangalore 24-Jan-2013: QuEST Global Engineering, a leading pure play engineering services provider with headquarters in Singapore, today announced the appointment of Mr. Ashok Baweja (Former Chairman HAL). In his new role, Mr Baweja will be responsible for the newly formed QuEST Global Defence Engineering Services, which will function as an independent company. The new company will focus on expanding the Engineering Services business in Aerospace and Defence sectors from OEMs. Mr Baweja will work closely with the Chairman & CEO of QuEST Global, Mr. Ajit Prabhu and help position the new entity as the preferred partner for defence offset requirements. He will be based out of the Bangalore.

Prior to joining Quest, Mr. Ashok Baweja was associated with HCL Technologies for over two years as a Senior Advisor for Aerospace & Defence for evolving long term strategies and Business Development. Ashok’s career spans over 42 years, the majority of which has been spent with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) where he joined as a Management Trainee in 1970. Through his career, Mr. Baweja has worked in and led the Aero Engine Division, Corporate Business Development, Corporate Marketing and the Helicopter Division. He joined the Board of HAL initially as the Managing Director for Design & Development for a period of 6 years and later became its Chairman in 2004 the youngest ever to date. During his tenure, he is credited for the development of the Advanced Light Helicopter, Intermediate Jet Trainer & Upgrades of the Jaguar aircraft, Chetak and Cheetah Helicopters besides growing revenues for HAL from $1 billion in 2005 to $2.3 billion in 2009.

Ashok Baweja is a graduate twice over in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and holds a MBA with specialization in Finance.
