By building a standardized model for monitoring the health of the lube oil for different fleets of locomotives, we helped the customer automate performance analysis of locomotives.
Steam turbine casing design automation
The customer, a leading locomotive manufacturer, wanted QuEST Global to develop a logistical framework for providing continued support to Steam Turbine - 3D Casing. The development activities for the IP casing crossover type and vertical joint type casing constitutes of Preliminary Analysis Model (3D), Casting Model (3D) & Associated Drafting file for Rough Machining Drawing and Standardization of IP Modules.
The engineers at QuEST Global working for the Rail domain started executing the project by creating a steam path tool solid and inner/outer profile of shell casing. Inlet / exhaust components as component solid were added and a 3D model as per the analysis requirement with Horizontal Flange bolt hole was created. Created associated drawings for models.
Technologies Used were Java Swings, UG NX, SQLite, oracle.
QuEST was able to create user friendly GUI to support design engineer to do different iteration of designing of Shell casing by reducing the time to 60 %-70 % as compared to before.
