The pipeline inspection division of an oilfield services company uses anin-line inspection tool to measure the integrity of oil and gas pipelines. The data generated by the tool is then analyzed to detect any pipeline damages. Due to the lack of adequate resources and skillset, ahugebacklog of data was buildingup.
QuESTdeveloped a 100 percent offshore solution. A team was deployed to analyze the pipeline data collected by the inspection tool. Input data was collected in the form of raw images. These images were analyzed to identify features and anomalies, which were then further assessed to detect larger anomalies.
In phase 1, the team identified features such as valves, bends, welds, taps, stopples, casings, flanges, weld+ends, pipe supports,andsleeves.
In phase 2, the team identifiedbox metal loss (internal and external), box closemetal and touching metal objects, and box deformations.
