14 June 2005. Quality Engineering and Software
Technologies (QuEST), a leading provider of engineering
solutions for advanced technology products, today announced
a strategic relationship with Smiths Aerospace. As part of
the agreement QuEST will set up a dedicated Offshore
Engineering Centre (OEC) in Bangalore to supply non-core
services for Smiths Aerospace.
The agreement between QuEST and Smiths Aerospace is for an
initial period of 3 years. The projects undertaken will
involve both fixed price and time & material tasks sourced
from Smiths’ operations in the US and the UK.
"India has been a key area for technology support for the
company. By opening the dedicated offshore engineering
centre in Bangalore we will be able to take advantage of
QuEST’s resources and expertise. We have placed strong
emphasis on ensuring that the culture at QuEST is the same
as that of our UK and US -based businesses.'' said Mr. John
Payne, Operations Director, Smiths Aerospace Mechanical
Systems.
"QuEST will provide advanced engineering services to key
businesses of Smiths Aerospace including Landing Gear and
Hydraulic Systems, Engine Systems, Flight Control Systems,
Propellers, and Aerostructures. QuEST’s relationship with
Smiths began on a project-to-project basis and today we
support Smiths on major aerospace programs." said Mr. Ajit
Prabhu, CEO, QuEST.
"The objective of setting up this exclusive facility is to
maintain and nurture a dedicated team of highly qualified
professionals for use by Smiths Aerospace. QuEST will
support Smiths with its technical expertise in detail
design, engineering analysis, NC programming, technical
publications, reliability and maintenance, process planning,
jig and tool design, test rig development, development
support, and manufacturing support through this center. We
have begun operations with about 20 engineers and we expect
to nearly double the number by the year-end," said Mr. Raman
Subramanian, Vice President, QuEST.
