Aravind Melligeri conferred with Young Achiever award – 2004

 

Bangalore, 18 December 2004. Aravind Melligeri, President QuEST, along with 19 other Indo-Americans was conferred with 'Young Achiever Award - 2004'. He was awarded the ‘Young Achiever Award’ by the Indo American Society for his contribution to business in India and America.

The Indo-American Society (IAS), an institution that works towards building Educational and Socio-Cultural relations between India and the United States of America, presented awards to the winners of the 5th Annual 'Young Achiever Awards' at a star studded awards ceremony held at The Hilton Towers in Mumbai on December 18, 2004.

This year, the Indo American Society's Young Achiever Awards 2004 felicitated 20 individuals based in India and the USA, who have achieved excellence in different disciplines namely Business, Social Service, Performing Arts, Music, Television and Journalism. The awards conferred for the 5th year in succession, recognizes extraordinary achievement amongst India's young talent in their respective domains.

The Chief Guest at this year's Young Achiever Awards ceremony was Mr. Robert O. Blake, Deputy Chief of Mission, US Embassy, New Delhi, who was accompanied by US Consul General, Mr. Angus Simmons and Mr. Subhash Ghai, who was the Guest of Honour for the evening.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Dr Arun Vakil, Chairman - Programmes, Indo-American Society said, "The Young Achievers Awards is a platform to felicitate Indian talent for their outstanding achievements in various disciplines. It has always been our endeavor at Indo-American Society to appreciate and publicly recognize India's young achievers while promoting greater understanding among Indian and American citizens through series of social and cultural programs".

The nominations received by IAS were selected by a high-powered Panel of Judges that included the US Consul General Angus Simmons, Mr. Dominic Price, MD & Senior Country Officer of J P Morgan, Mr. H. F. Khorakiwala, CMD of Wockhardt Ltd., Past Young Achiever Awardee Mr. Amit Jatia, Director of McDonalds and Past Young Achiever Awardee Mr. Prasoon Joshi, Regional Creative Director - South-East Asia of McCann Erickson India.

About Young Achiever Awards

The Young Achiever Awards which are the brain-child of energetic Programme Chairman Dr. Arun C. Vakil were created by IAS to felicitate Indians under the age of 35, who have achieved excellence in various fields. Indo-American Society has so far awarded 111 stalwarts, which include the likes of journalist Daniel Pearl (posthumous), directors Ashutosh Gowarikar and Karan Johar, grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand, actress Madhuri Dixit, actors Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan, industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla and Hital Meswani, Olympian Anjali Bhagwat, Cricketer Virendra Sehwag among others. An important criteria for selection is that the nominee should have an Indo-American connection.
